Dyslexia Assessments in Surrey & Staffordshire
Dyslexia Insight provides dyslexia assessment services for individuals with specific learning difficulties. The assessment process involves a pre-assessment questionnaire and gathering information from the individual's school/education settings.
The full dyslexia assessment takes approximately 3 hours (breaks included) and consists of a range of standardised tests looking at underlying ability, attainment in reading, spelling, writing and a range of tests looking at areas which are significant to a specific learning difficulty such as working memory, speed of processing and phonological awareness.
After the assessment, a detailed dyslexia report is written. Our comprehensive report provides valuable insights and actionable recommendations for schools, academic institutions and workplaces.
WHAT IS INCLUDED?
Full Diagnostic Dyslexia Assessment & Report
A full diagnostic assessment provides an in-depth understanding of an individual's pattern of strengths and difficulties and considers whether their profile is consistent with dyslexia or another Specific Learning Difficulty (SpLD).
The assessment and report will typically include:

Background and developmental history, including relevant educational, medical and family information.

Current concerns and the impact of difficulties on learning, study, work and everyday activities.

Assessment of literacy skills, including reading accuracy, fluency/efficiency, comprehension and spelling, as appropriate.

Assessment of writing skills, where relevant to the individual's profile.

Assessment of underlying cognitive and processing skills relevant to the diagnostic assessment, which may include:

phonological processing

working memory

processing speed

aspects of verbal and non-verbal ability, where appropriate.

Qualitative observations from throughout the assessment, considered alongside standardised test results and background information.

A clear diagnostic decision, explaining whether the evidence supports identification of dyslexia/SpLD and how the different strands of evidence contribute to that conclusion.

A summary of strengths and areas of difficulty, including how these may affect learning, study or work.

A table of standardised assessment scores and details of the assessment measures used.

Individualised recommendations for education, study, the workplace and everyday strategies, as appropriate.

Recommendations for specialist support, assistive technology and onward referral, where indicated.

Consideration of examination/access arrangements, where relevant. Final decisions regarding access arrangements remain with the relevant institution or awarding body.
